The Marlin Revitalization Association continues making improvements
to the city tennis courts each week. Tree trimming, net repairs, net
installation and bathroom cleanup is just a few of the tasks worked
on recently. There has been a huge interest by the public in the work
that we are doing and an increased number of people playing tennis
on the courts since the repaired nets have gone up. The City of Marlin
has come together with the MRA and other citizens to bring this public
facility back to a usable site for the enjoyment of all Marlin.
The summer tennis program is scheduled for each Sat. in June &
July with the exception of June 27th. Darrell Thompson from Ridgewood
Tennis Club in Waco will be at our city courts from 10:00 A.M. until
12:00 P. M. each Saturday. Ages for the tennis lessons are from 5
yrs. And up and will cost $10.00 for all seven Saturdays. On July
4th the MRA will host a hotdog roast and games for all who participate
in the tennis program. Anyone interested in signing up should contact
us at 803-2239 or MarlinRA@aol.com. We encourage everyone from basic
beginners to experienced players to join us. Rackets & balls will
be furnished for those who do not have their own.
The renovation of the courts will be an ongoing project for months
to come.
Any individual or group who would like to help MRA with a donation
to the cause should contact us at the email address and phone number
listed above. Your gift will go directly into the renovation and upkeep
of the courts.
